Nikki Krzebiot and Carolyn Waldee: A Fool's April

Don’t let the name fool you; we won’t be pulling any tricks or gags. Come and see the fourth installment of Matthew J. Lorenz’s YEAR of Cabaret! and go on a tour of life’s follies with two of Davenport’s esteemed server-performers. Nikki and Carolyn regularly regale Davenport’s audiences with drinks and lovely songs; at this show, we’ll join them for some cabaret-style whimsy, too.

$35 with two drink minimum - 21+ - 8pm

Nikki Krzebiot is a Davenport's Cabaret veteran (and Marketing and Talent Manager!), having performed five self-produced shows in the back room of the bar. She has also been seen on stages around Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, both as a musical theatre actor (most recently as Johanna in Kokandy's Jeff Award-winning Sweeney Todd) and as a singer with Acts of Kindness Cabaret (Have We Got a Story for You!) and The Peppermint Patties (an Andrews Sisters-style trio). She can usually be found taking long meandering walks around the north side, making playlists she forgets to listen to, or singing in the shower.

Carolyn Waldee is a Chicago-based actor-musician. She recently joined the Davenports’ family as a server after several years of frequenting open mic and premiering her solo show “Extraordinary Machine” in the back room last August. Favorite credits include Dying For It (The Artistic Home), Henry IV (Wheaton Shakespeare in the Parks), and the regional premiere of String (Towle Theatre). Carolyn is a graduate of the Arena Theater program at Wheaton College and has continued her training at Acting Studio Chicago, Susan Hart Shakespeare, Studio Bumppo, and Star Music Studio with Colette Todd. Since 2021 Carolyn has been an ensemble member at GreatWorks Theatre Company, where she performs several shows in repertory each season for young audiences across the midwest. Most recently, Carolyn played Orlando and also her cello in As You Like it with Nonsense Productions, an up-and-coming theatre company where she is also the box office manager.

Matthew Lorenz is a growing artistic presence in the American Midwest and the international stage at large. Matthew’s performance experience as a pianist extends from Bismarck, ND to Santa Rosa, NM, then Paris; and beyond, now currently active in Chicago. Besides his regular performing schedule Matthew is on the Piano Faculty at the New Music School, the Gold Coast’s premier music academy. Read more about Matthew at his website, mlorenzmusic.squarespace.com!

Matthew has become a regular performer at Davenport’s since playing his first cabaret there in Spring of ‘22 (he prepared for character by watching Liza Manelli’s 1972 classic Cabaret! three or four times). Now he chases cabaret’s electric atmosphere, and is on a mission to present a new cabaret at Davenport’s every month of 2024: the YEAR of Cabaret!
